All our operators have completed the British Columbia Ready Mix Association (BCRMCA) concrete pump operators safety training course. All of our operators are CCPO certified as of January 1st, 2024. Pump operators need not only the ability to effectively operate the placing boom, but must also have an integral understanding of the concrete itself. It is a demanding job, and one we take pride in!
Several considerations for safety must be taken into account when setting up a concrete boom pump. The operator will be looking for relatively level, stable ground to act as support for the trucks outrigger stabalizers. Setting up next to an excavation requires adequate setback from the edge. Guidelines for a safe distance are known as the "One to One Rule" (see left).
In addition, concrete pump booms have a limit of approach of between 10 and 20 feet (depending on voltage) of high tension power lines. This is to prevent contact or power arcing between the lines and the boom. The operator will pay special care and attention to any job situation involving power lines.
